If you’re a student, a housewife, or simply someone who wants to establish a home-based business part-time or full-time, choosing your career niche will depend on your skills and talents, but mainly on the things you love doing. In this post, I will show you some examples of real successful home-based businesses I’m familiar with here in Egypt. You’ll also see how these businesses are leveraging social media to get meaningful exposure. And my goal is to inspire you with ideas on what career to establish and how to develop and promote your business.
Idea #1: Cooking
The intuitive career niche for stay-at-home workers. The screenshot below depicts the Facebook page of a successful home-based cooking business. And I’ve chosen an image of casual-looking dish to show you that you can set off your successful cooking business and you don’t have to make super fancy prestigious-looking dishes.
Idea #2: Knitting
Another beautiful hobby that numerous people love worldwide. Facebook now comprises hundreds — if not thousands — of pages and groups where you can see people sharing marvelous, even genius, ideas for making dresses, bags, pencil cases, toys, etc.
Idea #3: Pet breeding
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll love this one. You can breed and sell aquarium fish, dogs, cats, birds, tortoises, turtles, and the list goes on.
Idea #4: Child day care
This is also a project that can be established with an affordable budget.
Idea #5: Freelancing
is a huge well-varied field of job opportunities for the home-based professionals, me included, especially if you have a degree.
- If you have a high artistic sense, you can do logo/web design, video production. Architecture and computer-aided design (CAD) are also available fields.
- If you like providing help, you can work as a virtual assistant, a customer service agent, a data entry clerk, and/or a transcriber, Accounting is another open field.
- If you know multiple languages, you can work as a translator.
- If you’re talented at influencing people, you can be a successful blogger and/or a sales web content copywriter.
- If you know coding, you can do web/mobile app developing.
Bottomline, if you want to work from home, then you have numerous career fields open to you to choose from. All what you want to do is make a list of the things you love doing, pick the niche(s) that can be turned into a successful business, and fit well with your time schedule and lifestyle.
